More than 20 employees from the corporate headquarters of Hair Club, North America’s number one provider of proven hair loss solutions, recently volunteered at Ronald McDonald House in Fort Lauderdale by providing home-cooked meals for families caring for their sick children.
Participating in the Ronald McDonald House Adopt-A-Meal program is just one of many initiatives of Hair Club’s Pay It Forward (PIF) program, which encourages employees to get involved in the community through volunteering and other outreach efforts. Launched just two years ago, employees have logged more than 700 hours serving the needs of members within their community through the PIF program. The company plans to roll out the PIF program nationally to all of its 117 locations later this fall.
“It felt so good to be able to give back to the community and help families that are in a very hard place right now,” said Shakeidra Saunders, an employee who participated in the initiative. “Even through the simple act of cooking we were able to let these families know they are not alone. The community is here for them.”
Hair Club employees created the menu and grocery shopped together prior to the May 18th outreach effort, which helped feed 30 families.
“Having a child in the hospital is an extraordinary challenge,” said Monica Garboza, Human Resources Specialist. “Cooking a meal for themselves is the last thing they want to think about after sitting by their child’s bedside all day. We were thrilled to help those families come home to a home-cooked meal.”
Hair Club’s next PIF event is set for Friday, June 30th where all corporate employees will hold a “Beach Clean Up” at South Beach Boca Raton, as part of their Annual Summer Picnic. There will be two more PIF events later in 2017 to benefit two non-profits: A.V.D.A (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse) and Kids in Distress.
“Seeing everyone motivated with one goal to make the community better is such an inspiring, powerful thing,” said Garboza. “To be a part of a company that cares about the community makes us all so proud.”
