Since its founding as Hair Club for Men in 1976, Hair Club has become the leading hair restoration company in the world, helping hundreds of thousands of men and women regain their hair and self-confidence.
Hair Club Milestones
As a result of his dissatisfaction with the unnatural-looking hair replacement solutions available to men suffering from hair loss, Hair Club for Men is founded by Sy Sperling. The business begins to grow primarily due to word of mouth alone.
The iconic "I'm not just the Hair Club president, I'm also a client" commercials featuring Sy Sperling first air on national television and quickly become a cultural phenomenon. Within the first month of airing, Hair Club receives 10,000 calls.
In an effort to deliver hair restoration services to a wider audience, Hair Club expands to Canada, with Toronto being the first of the 10 Canadian centers to follow.
Responding to a void in the market, Hair Club incorporates female hair loss solutions to meet the needs of women dealing with hair loss.
Hair Club introduces EXT® Extreme Hair Therapy, a topical product regimen incorporating a FDA-approved regrowth agent known as minoxidil and nutritional supplements. EXT® offers a range of products to prevent and stimulate hair growth for men and women first noticing hair loss or as a post-surgical regimen for hair transplantation patients.
The breakthrough technology of the Extreme LaserComb is added to Hair Club’s roster of proven hair loss solutions. FDA-cleared, the at-home laser device offers Hair Club members a safe and effective method to stimulate hair growth and reduce hair fallout in the comfort of their home.
After years of development, TrichoView Hair & Scalp Analysis becomes a welcomed addition to Hair Club’s free consultation. The diagnostic TrichoView system provides an in-depth analysis of hair loss to personalize your treatment plan.
Hair Club Heritage
Sy Sperling incorporated Hair Club for Men in 1976 and quickly made Hair Club a household name. After decades of success and a famous TV commercial pronouncing himself as not only the Hair Club President, but “also a client”, Sperling eventually sold Hair Club to a private-equity firm in 2000. Four years later in 2004, Hair Club was sold to hair care giant Regis Corporation. In April 2013, Regis sold Hair Club to Tokyo-based Aderans Co. Ltd., the world’s leading provider of total hair loss solutions. Today, Hair Club has over 100 locations throughout North America and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aderans. Former president Sy Sperling remains a Hair Club client.
