No matter the cause, hair loss can be a challenging experience, especially for children. At HairClub, we believe every child should get to have a worry-free childhood with a full head of hair—which is why we established the HairClub For Kids® program in 1992.

HairClub For Kids provides non-surgical hair replacement services, completely free of charge to eligible children. Our goal is to make sure every child gets the opportunity to do all the things children love to do without any restrictions due to their hair loss. HairClub For Kids is here to help kids be kids.

You and your child will meet with a professionally-trained, licensed personal stylist. As an expert in hair replacement, they will examine your child’s thinning areas to determine what kind of custom hair replacement system he/she will need. We will match the new hair to his or her existing hair’s color, texture, and density. Your child’s hair will change and evolve through the years as we work together, just like any healthy head of growing hair.

  • Tinea Capitis: Also referred to as ringworm of the scalp, tinea capitis is a condition that shows up as scaly patches of hair loss on the head.
  • Alopecia Areata: This hair loss condition is caused by the body’s immune system attacking itself. It is characterized by round or oval patches of hair loss.
  • Trichotillomania: Resulting from stress, trichotillomania is a condition characterized by hair pulling, picking, or rubbing.
  • Telogen Effluvium: In a person with telogen effluvium, sudden or severe stress interrupts the normal cycle of hair growth.
  • Nutritional Deficiency: Biotin and zinc are essential nutrients for healthy hair; a deficiency in either can result in hair loss.
  • Endocrine Problems: Hypothyroidism and other endocrine issues can cause hair loss in some children. • Newborn Hair Loss: Many babies lose their baby hair over the first few months and then permanent hair replaces it.
  • Rubbing: Between 3 and 6 months of age, most babies have a bald spot from pressing against the crib or car seat.
  • Hair Abuse: Rough brushing or pulling the hair into tight ponytails or braids can cause it to fall out.

"I have had alopecia areata since I was 4. I tried wigs, but I like to dance and do gymnastics, and the hair would fall off. I also tried creams and shots, but they made me feel weird. But now, I can dance without worrying that my hair is going to fall off."
