• 1976

    Hair Club is founded by Sy Sperling.

    Dissatisfied by the poor quality of available hair loss solutions, Sy Sperling began Hair Club for Men. The business begins to grow by word of mouth.

  • 1982

    Hair Club airs first television commercial.

    The iconic commercials featuring Sy Sperling saying, “I’m not just the Hair Club president, I’m also a client” begin airing on national television and quickly become a cultural phenomenon. Within the first month of airing, Hair Club received 10,000 telephone calls.

  • 1983

    Hair Club expands to Canada.

    In an effort to deliver hair restoration services to a wider audience, Hair Club expands to Canada, with Toronto being the first of 10+ Canadian centers to follow across the country.

  • 1995

    Hair Club first introduces women’s services.

    Responding to a void in the market, Hair Club incorporates female hair restoration solutions—customized to meet the unique needs of women suffering from hair loss.

  • 2000

    Hair Club transfers ownership.

    After decades of success, Sy Sperling sells his company to a private equity firm. Four years later, the private equity firm sells Hair Club to hair care giant Regis Corporation.

  • 2002

    Hair Club releases EXT Extreme Hair Therapy®.

    Hair Club introduces EXT®, a solution designed for men and women in the earlier stages of hair loss. A combination of at-home products, including FDA-approved minoxidil, and in-center services help slow down further loss.

  • 2010

    Hair Club launches the LaserComb.

    LaserComb’s breakthrough technology is added to Hair Club’s roster of proven hair loss solutions. Learn more about laser hair therapy and how it can help slow further hair loss.

  • 2013

    Hair Club purchased by Aderans.

    As of April 2013, Hair Club is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Aderans Co. Ltd., the world’s leading provider of hair loss solutions, with over 150 locations throughout Asia.

  • 2014

    Hair Club introduces new hair analysis technology.

    After years of research and development, enhanced hair analysis technology is introduced for use in client consultations. The technology provides an in-depth hair analysis that enables hair loss experts to determine the level of a client’s hair loss and which proven solution is right for them.

  • 2015

    Hair Club launches Xtrands®.

    Expanding Hair Club’s non-surgical options, Xtrands® is added alongside the company’s best-selling solution, Xtrands+®. Xtrands offers fast, natural-looking results for those in the earlier stages of hair loss.
