The iconic “I’m not just the Hair Club president, I’m also a client” commercials featuring Sy Sperling first air on national television and quickly become a cultural phenomenon. Within the first month of airing, Hair Club receives 10,000 calls.
Hair Club expands to Canada.
In an effort to deliver hair restoration services to a wider audience, Hair Club expands to Canada, with Toronto being the first of 10+ Canadian centers to follow across the country.
Hair Club first introduces women’s services.
Responding to a void in the market, Hair Club incorporates female hair loss solutions to meet the needs of women dealing with hair loss.
Hair Club transfers ownership.
After decades of success, Sy Sperling eventually sold his company to a private equity firm in 2000. Four years later, the private-equity firm sold Hair Club to hair care giant Regis Corporation.
Hair Club releases EXT®.
Hair Club introduces EXT, a topical product regimen that combines FDA-approved minoxidil with proprietary nutritional supplements and a set of cleansing and conditioning products. EXT offers an economical and proven way to stimulate hair regrowth and prevent further hair loss. Only 2% minoxidil for men is available for purchase in Canada. EXT supplements are not available for purchase in Canada.
Hair Club launches the LaserComb.
The breakthrough LaserComb technology is added to Hair Club’s roster of proven hair loss solutions. FDA-cleared, the at-home laser device offers a safe and effective method to stimulate hair growth and reduce hair fallout.
Hair Club purchased by Aderans.
As of April 2013, Hair Club is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Aderans Co. Ltd., the world’s leading provider of hair loss solutions, with over 150 locations throughout Asia.
Hair Club enhances Hair Analysis technology.
After years of development, the new Hair Analysis technology is introduced to initial consultations. The diagnostic system provides an in-depth analysis of hair loss to personalize clients’ treatment plans, free of charge.
Hair Club launches Xtrands™.
Expanding Hair Club’s non-surgical options, Xtrands is added as an alternative to the company’s flagship product Xtrands+. With the possibility of a same day transformation, Xtrands offers completely natural-looking results for those with little to moderate hair loss.
