Boca Raton, Fla. – The latest transformational medical series from TLC, 'Bad Hair Day', features HairClub medical advisor and board-certified expert hair restoration surgeon, Dr. Angie Phipps.
The six-episode series also features esteemed board-certified dermatologist Dr. Isha Lopez and board-certified dermatologist and hair restoration surgeon Dr. Meena Singh. All three female doctors specialize in hair-related medical disorders, each on a mission to ease the suffering of patients struggling with hair loss. New episodes of 'Bad Hair Day' premiere Wednesday, beginning August 24 at 10pm.
Dr. Phipps, who is based in Raleigh, NC, is known for her southern charm and bedside manner. A highly sought practitioner for Bosley, the surgical partner within the HairClub family, Dr. Phipps performs transformative procedures to restore hair after third-degree burns, male-pattern baldness and trichotillomania, a disorder in which patients compulsively pull out their hair.
“I am so honored to be part of this series on TLC and be the medical advisor for HairClub, a company that allows so many individuals who experience any range of hair loss and thinning hair, whether it be mild or severe, with solutions to say goodbye to bad hair days once and for all,” said Dr. Phipps. “Two episodes featured HairClub, because they had the best treatment solutions for patients for whom a hair restoration procedure and medications alone couldn't provide.”
The production team filmed half of the first episode with cast member William at the HairClub office in Dr. Phipps hometown of Raleigh.
Houston-based Dr. Lopez focuses on follicular fixes, while Kansas City physician Dr. Singh addresses conditions including excessive hair growth and traction alopecia. The doctors help patients who hope to one day leave hair loss in the rear view mirror and instead enjoy happier, healthier lives with fewer bad hair days.
“We are proud of Dr. Phipps for raising hair loss awareness and the broad impact it has on people’s lives,” said HairClub CEO Mike Nassar. “To everyone at Discovery, TLC and the Crazy Legs Productions team, we are thankful that 'Bad Hair Day' will educate viewers that hair loss is not a lost cause, and there is always a solution.”
HairClub has helped more than 600,000 members over the course of 46 years. Members come to HairClub Centers for help with every stage of hair loss and at all ages, from pre-teens to retirees.
What TLC describes as a sisterhood of physicians is already generating excitement throughout the hair loss community.
“Dr. Lopez, Dr. Phipps and Dr. Singh are first-in-class medical professionals and their ability to turn patients' lives around is truly inspiring,” said Howard Lee, President of TLC Streaming and Network Originals. “Home to a wide-variety of emotional, heartwarming stories of personal transformation, these doctors are an outstanding addition to our programming line-up on TLC.”
