Dr. Karl J. Hekimian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College, in Cambridge, MA, and his M.D. from the Tufts Medical School in Boston, MA.
Dr. Hekimian received his post-doctoral training at various prestigious universities and hospitals. He held a General Surgery residency at Boston University, in Boston, MA from 1987 to 1992, followed by a research fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA (1992 to 1994). He went on to his residency in plastic surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY (1994-1997) before finally completing a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, AZ (1997-1998).
Following his post-doctoral training, Dr. Hekimian pursued Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery positions in Tucson, AZ. Prior to joining Bosley Medical Group in summer of 2014, Dr. Hekimian practiced at Aesthetic Surgery of Tucson, and more recently, at Simple Solutions Plastic Surgery, also in Tucson, AZ.
With more than 15 years of plastic surgery practice to his credit, there is no question that Dr. Karl Hekimian brings experience and incredible skill to his work in hair transplantation.
Over the years, Dr. Hekimian has given numerous lectures and presentations, as well as co-authored multiple publications and reports, mostly on the topics of wound healing and nerve regeneration.
He is certified by the Board of Plastic Surgery and the Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, a member of the Arizona Medical Society and a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC).
Dr. Karl Hekimian holds medical licenses in Arizona and California.
