How FUE Works
During this procedure, a Bosley HairClub physician uses follicular unit grafts to recreate your hairline and growth pattern. After administering anesthesia to numb the donor area, our physician removes a thin strip of tissue that is segmented into follicular grafts. Grafts are then carefully prepared for implantation and then individually placed in the thinning area(s). Many patients are able to return to their normal routine the next day, and any swelling and redness is usually gone after a week.
Let’s take a closer look at each step in the process:
Step 1
Removing the Donor Tissue

After administering local anesthesia to numb the donor area so that you’re completely comfortable during the procedure, our physician removes a strip of tissue in the donor area containing your permanent, lifelong hair follicles. Once we’ve removed the donor hair, we suture the area, and your surrounding hair conceals the sutured area.
Step 2
Preparing the Donor Hair

Our clinical staff prepares the donor hair for placement by trimming or dissecting the donor strips into their follicle groupings, also known as units. Each unit is comprised of one, two, three or four hair follicles. While the units are being prepped for transplantation, you’re free to relax. Read a novel, take a nap, or catch up on the latest season of your favorite TV show while we take care of the rest.
Step 3
Placing the Follicular Units

Once the follicles are prepared and ready to be transplanted, our physician makes a tiny incision on your scalp for each follicular unit, paying close attention to the location, angle and depth of each unit to ensure natural-looking results and to maximize the density and coverage of the thinning areas. Based on your custom plan, our hair transplant surgery team places the individual follicular units into the donor recipient sites created by your physician.
Step 4
FUE Hair Growth

Our clinical team will give you instructions on how to care for your donor and recipient areas, as well as provide medication for sleep and any discomfort you might have. The day after your hair transplant surgery, you’re encouraged to return to have your hair washed and to have the recipient sites and donor area inspected. While you might experience some soreness, tightness or numbness, most patients are able to return to work in just a couple of days.
A week after your surgery, any swelling and redness will usually be gone. Three months after the procedure, new hair will usually begin to regrow. After six months, you should start to see noticeable hair growth.
Four Steps to a Full Head of Hair
While BioGraft makes use of two leading hair restoration techniques, the patient experience is incredibly straightforward, our hair loss experts will take care of everything.

Removing the Donor Tissue

Step 2
Preparing the Donor Hair
When the follicular grafts are ready, we make small incisions in your recipient area that match your natural hair growth pattern. The follicular grafts are then strategically placed one by one, according to the number of hairs within each follicle, in order to maximize the naturalness, density and coverage of the thinning areas. This is where the experience and artistry of your Bosley HairClub physician is critical.

FUE Reviewed
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. During this outpatient procedure, a Bosley HairClub physician extracts healthy follicles individually and transplants them to recreate a natural-looking hairline.
Because BioGraft includes this surgical procedure, a Bosley HairClub physician must conduct an examination to determine whether or not you are a candidate for an FUE procedure.
How HairClub®’s Xtrands+ Factors In
After your FUE procedure, one of HairClub’s professionally licensed stylists will utilize the Strand-by-Strand® process, a state-of-the art, non-surgical solution, to give you a full head of great-looking hair.
With Xtrands+, your stylists will examine your thinning areas to determine where additional hair needs to be added and will then match your new hair to the exact color, texture, curl pattern, and density of your existing hair. Your new hair is then blended in with your existing hair using a medical-grade adhesive. Once the new hair is in place, your stylist will cut and shape your hair to achieve your ideal look.
BioGraft Cost
Because Bosley HairClub determines the cost of all surgical procedures based on the number of grafts needed to achieve your desired results, we encourage anyone interested in BioGraft restoration to schedule a FREE, no-obligation consultation with an experienced Bosley HairClub hair restoration expert.
